The Finish Line

A month or so ago I started making myself a panel skirt from this book. The skirt was essentially finished apart from the buttons (my modifications) on the front.

So with the sound of horses racing their hearts out in the background, I headed for the finish line myself. As a nurse in the Public Health System its not often I get public holidays off so I was determined to make the most of it.

Buttonholes are not my favourite thing to make (I think this is why I have been putting it off) but while I was playing around I discovered the wonders of sewing buttons on with my machine...I don't think I will ever sew a button by hand again as long as I live!!

The skirt is my first attempt and I'm pretty happy with it (modifications and all) but I think next time I will make it with lighter fabrics to suit the warmer weather that is hopefully on the way.

Number 1

I've been thinking about writing my first blog post for months now. I actually created my blog way back in about June and have been fiddling with headers and such since then but never actually got around to writing anything.

So the time has come to bite the bullet! I found the perfect platform to launch myself from, the thing which I just have to join in with.

One of the blogs I read regularly is Punky & Me (among others of course!) and Vic is having a bit of fun over at her blog with My Place & Yours. This week the theme is "My Pin Cushion". Excellent! I thought. I have an awesome pin cushion (says me!) and I would love to share it.

So without further ado here is my pin cushion....

Her name is Patchy and she is made with some old scraps I just couldn't bear to throw away. She is very functional too... under her shell on the bottom is where I keep my needles and embroidery scissors (the needles were always getting lost in my old pin cushion).

So there you have it. My first ever blog post! Thanks Vic for the inspiration :o) Can't wait for next week's theme!
